What IDs are accepted for notarization?

When you come to us for notarization, we need a reliable ID to verify who you are—it’s all about keeping things secure and legal. According to Florida Statutes Section 117.05(5)(b), acceptable primary IDs should be current or issued within the last 5 years and include your photo, signature, and a physical description or unique trait. Here’s what qualifies:

    • U.S. Passport (or a foreign passport stamped by U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service)
    • U.S. Driver’s License or state-issued ID card
    • U.S. Military ID card
    • Permanent Resident Card (green card) or Alien Registration Card
    • Foreign Passport (with a U.S. entry stamp)
    • Government-issued ID from any state, U.S. territory, or federal agency

For Remote Online Notary (RON), our system can’t process Inmate/Prisoner IDs or Military IDs (including dependents’) due to provider limitations. If you don’t have one of these primary IDs, don’t worry—there’s a secondary ID option using credible witnesses, which is explained here. Questions about what works for you?
